Smarty Girl Love

I have been slacking on the love posts, but I fell in love today with my new Smarty Girl Book Bag. The pattern is by one of my favorite creative minds, Heather Bailey. Check her out! Her fabrics are delicious! I whipped up the bag today and LOVE the results. Like how I said whipped it up? Makes you think it took me 20 minutes with zero lovable baby interruptions, right?

Don't you just LOVE my model?

I know, I am a horrible photographer. Working on that next...

Strange Stranger Love

Like I have said before, I get it, babies are cute. But often when a stranger is doting on my little one I find it awkward. There is this moment when someone is talking to G and asking him cute questions when I am just not sure what to do.
Do I answer the questions they ask in that baby voice as if I am G? Or do I just let the question go unanswered, since they should know that he isn't actually going to answer them. Or do I just answer as his mom?
I don't want to seem rude, but I am not a stranger engaging kind of gal in the first place. Before G, I was already awkward if someone tried to start up conversation in the grocery line. I am definitely guilty of gushing over other people's babies in the past, but now as a mom I often find it strange.
Yesterday, we encountered some strong and definitely strange stranger love. It was made even more awkward because I was trying to order lunch and the man behind us was having a full conversation with G that was attracting a lot of attention. Do I continue to order, do I stop and talk to the man? So awkward!
Even though my response is uncomfortable I do appreciate the LOVE.

Closer to 1 than 0

Wow! How fast 7 months can fly by. Our little man is over the half way mark and is officially closer to being a 1 year old than he is to his birth. Ha!

Here is what we, his blessed parents, are loving about 7 months.
-Personality -Oh, how it reveals itself more everyday.
-Learning - You are soaking it all in and watching you learn to feed yourself is such a joy and mess!
-Sit and Play - Everyday you grow stronger and now love to sit and play with your toys. Sitting brings so many new experiences with it (swings, shopping carts, high chairs, etc) and it is great watching you enjoy them.
-Expressions - G you have had the funniest expressions since you were born and they continue to delight us.
-Sleep - You sleep so well through the night right now. We feel rested and we thank you!
-Interaction - you love interacting with us, family and your friends.
-Mornings - you never wake up on the wrong side of the crib and you have the sweetest sleepy morning eyes.
-Gentle - you used to pull my hair every time you got a hand full but now you have a gentle way. You like to just touch. You are also becoming quite the snuggler, loving to push your head into the crook of my neck. It is heaven for your momma!
-Teeth - your dimply grin is growing teeth, it might just push me over the happiness edge. If you were any cuter...
-Noise - It seems you learn to make a new noise constantly. Usually when you figure out a cool one you will hang on to it for a couple of days before trying something new. I have tried to get them on video, not all too successfully. Lately you rattle off, hey dadadadada. Or at least that is what it sounds like.

I love you G, my sweet Bug!

Blocks were a good idea in the early months, but getting much more difficult...

For the Record Books

Well, It is official. Yesterday was a day for the record books. We had the most snow that DFW has ever received in a 24 hour period. 11.2 inches, seriously, 11.2 inches! This morning, we woke up to beauty and destruction hand in hand. The trees covered in white contrasting a brilliant blue sky - Breath taking! But the weight of the snow has caused damage across the metroplex and our poor little trees are showing the sag. Better go shake 'em. Here are some shots we took around the neighborhood...

We are fueling up on french toast and bacon before the work day begins... There is so much fun to be had today!

Snow Day

Yesterday was the biggest snow day I have ever seen! It did not stop snowing for one moment from the time I opened my eyes until I closed them again at night. I wish G was old enough to appreciate and play in it. He is beginning to think snow in Texas is normal. We relived my childhood and made Snow Slushies. I think we probably only had these once, since there usually isn't enough snow to make one.

During G's nap, I made a Valentine Snow Girl.

When she caught a glimpse of G through the window it was LOVE.

With the blinds open (so we wouldn't forget the beauty outside) and the fire lit, we enjoyed games, laughs and even a little indoor snow ball fight (thanks to Matt). Oh, How I LOVE a true snow day!
